Every year in the UK alone over 200,000 tonnes of clothing is discarded.
That’s equivalent to 12 pieces of clothing for every man woman and child in the UK.
90% of that will go to landfill or incineration, placing a significant burden on our soils, our waterways and our atmosphere.
At Presca we want to see Extended Producer Responsibility applied to clothing – laws that would ensure every brand takes responsibility (physical or financial) for the clothing they make at the end of life. These laws are coming down the road, but we don’t believe they can come fast enough. Why wait?
Our promise to you is that we will take back every piece of clothing we make or ever have made when you’re done with it. If you no longer want your Presca clothing you can send it back to us, and where possible we’ll incentivise you to do so. We’re not saying we have all the answers. Far from it. And we know that sending your clothes back to individual brands isn’t a long term solution or one that will work at scale.
But we want to act now, so we’re starting the best way we know how.
It’s time for all clothing brands to act responsibly.
